This Is Mining: the Podcast Wins Canadian Podcast Award

#ThisIsMining: the Podcast has won best Outstanding Branded Series at PODCAMP TORONTO’s fourth annual CANADIAN PODCAST AWARDS, celebrating outstanding podcasts produced by Canadian podcasters, editors, and producers.

#ThisIsMining: the Podcast explores stories of human transformation connected to Ontario’s mining industry, STEM-related themes and examples of how mining is today’s technology, tackling the most pressing challenges facing our generation. The podcast takes a deep dive into the province’s abundance of minerals, and how it offers hope for the future and opportunities to make the world a better place.

“#ThisIsMining: the Podcast exemplifies the wealth of talent we have here in Canada and reflects the unique attitudes, opinions, ideas, values, and creativity of Canadians,” said John Leschinski, Chair of Podcamp Toronto. “We had thousands of votes cast this year from across the country – it’s really an incredible achievement to be selected by your peers in the Canadian podcasting community."

“I’ve learned a lot about Ontario’s mining industry through this series. Nickel, copper, cobalt and gold, might be what we mine here in Ontario, but I’ve learned that the elements that make up the industry go way beyond what’s mined. Science, technology, engineering, math, inclusion and diversity, a sustainable and green future, adventure, a legacy of community building in Ontario – these are the elements of mining,” said #ThisIsMining: the Podcast host, Amber Mac, during her acceptance speech.

Winners were announced Friday, August 27th, 2021 via livestream featuring guest appearances from Canadian podcasting luminaries. Winners received a one-year license from Hindenburg, to their Hindenburg Journalist PRO audio editing software.

The Canadian Podcast Awards were established in 2018 by Podcamp Toronto to showcase the very best in Canadian on-demand digital audio production.
