2013 Award Ceremony

The fifth annual SYTYKM Awards Ceremony was held at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. Laura Heidenheim of London, whose entry received hounourable mention in the competition, documented all the glitz and glamour in the video posted here.

In addition to the prizes listed above, there were bonus ones determined by random draw:  the $500 Early Bird Prize went to Devon Elcus-Whelan, a student at Hillcrest High School in Ottawa, while A.Y. Jackson Secondary School in North York became the 3+ School Random Draw Winner, receiving $2,000 toward the purchase of audiovisual equipment.

We appreciate the work of Ontario artist Iris L. Shields, who created unique key chains for SYTYKM Award Ceremony guests, featuring hand-crafted mica drawings of the headframe found in the OMA logo, fused in glass. More creations by the artist can be found at Unique Quality Fine Arts in New Liskeard, Ontario.

We would also like to acknowledge the awesome staff at the Royal Ontario Museum, who helped us to organize a truly memorable evening.

Thank you to the competitors, teachers, parents and online voters - everyone who gave their time, showcased their talent and made the story of Ontario mining their own.

So You Think Know Mining is a success because of the collective financial and moral support of Ontario Mining Association members. We gratefully acknowledge the support of the companies listed in the video below.
