Between 2009-2016, OMA ran the ultimate video contest for Ontario students, receiving almost 1,000 entries from across the province and giving out over $272,000 in prizes to students, teachers and schools. The challenge was to create a 2-3 minute video on the benefits of mining to society or a 15 second commercial themed around the Ontario mining brand. The videos were judged by an expert panel and substantial cash prizes were awarded to the producers of winning videos in a variety of Oscar-like categories, including Best Music, Best Directing, and Best Screenplay. Each year, the prizes were announced at glamorous awards ceremony, which provided a platform for young talent to have their extraordinary work honoured before a distinguished audience.

SYTYKM brought together a large and varied community of people who are passionate about our industry. We are grateful for the involvement of all competitors, educators, parents, judges, online voters - everyone who gave their time, showcased their talent and made the story of Ontario mining their own. Thank you to OMA members for generously supporting SYTYKM over eight years - together, we made it a great success.
